Our Classes

At Inez Patricia School of Dance, we believe that dance is a powerful form of expression, discipline, and joy. Our diverse class offerings are designed to support dancers of all ages and experience levels—from toddlers taking their first steps to adults pursuing their passion.

OUR CLASS

Our diverse class offerings cater to dancers at every stage of their journey:

Ballet Technique

Ballet Technique

The foundational principles of body movement and form. It is an important aspect of ballet performance because ballet puts great emphasis on the method and execution of movement. The techniques found in classical ballet are a framework for many other styles of dance, including jazz and contemporary ballet.

Aspects of ballet technique include alignment, which refers to keeping the head, shoulders, and hips vertically aligned.

Hoton Technique

Horton Technique
Modern Dance

has no style, per se. The technique emphasizes a whole body, anatomical approach to dance that includes flexibility, strength, coordination and body and spatial awareness to enable unrestricted, dramatic freedom of expression.

Contemporary Dance

Contemporary Dance

Although originally informed by and borrowing from classicalmodern, and jazz styles, it has come to incorporate elements from many styles of dance. Due to its technical similarities, it is often perceived to be closely related to modern dance, ballet, and other classical concert dance styles.

Dance Improvisation

Improv and Performance Development

is the process of spontaneously creating movement. Development of movement material is facilitated through a variety of creative explorations including body mapping through levels, shape and dynamics schema.

Hip-Hop Dance

Hip-Hop Dance

is a fusion dance genre that incorporates elements of popping, locking, breaking, jazz, ballet, tap dancing and other styles and is typically performed to hip-hop, R&B, funk, electronicor pop music.

Jazz Dance 02

Jazz Dance

May allude to vernacular jazz or to Broadway or dramatic jazz. The two types expand on African-American vernacular styles of dance that arose with jazz music. Vernacular jazz dance incorporates ragtime moves, CharlestonLindy hop, and mambo.

Tap Dance

Tap Dance

A type of dance characterised by using the sounds of metal taps affixed to the heel and toe of shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion, coupled with both characteristic and interpretative body movements. Its roots were in minstrel shows, it gained prominence in vaudeville, then emerged into an art form and means of expression alongside the evolution of jazz.
